Gagan SanghaGraduated from Western University in 2006, and is currently entering her third year of law school at the University of Windsor. Gagan pursued a legal education as a stepping stone to a career in development work. In addition to her work with Our Children Africa, Gagan is actively involved in her university community. This summer Gagan will be returning to Ghana as Social Justice Fellow of the University of Windsor where she will be overlooking OCA’s projects, which were initiated last summer. Nicole AndreakosGraduated from York University with an Honors Degree in History and Political Science. She is currently entering her third year of law at the University of Windsor. Nicole’s conviction to use her legal education as a means to promote social justice both in her community and internationally is what guided her trip to Ghana and defines her commitment to the work of Our Children Africa. Nicole is actively involved in social justice initiatives on campus which include raising awareness and recruiting student support for Our Children Africa. In September 2008, she will travel to Lyon, France to complete a diploma in International Law. Shannon KinchGraduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Joint Honors Degree in Sociology and Criminology. She is currently entering her third year of law at the University of Windsor. Shannon’s decision to pursue a career in law stemmed from her life long desire to reach out and protect children worldwide. This desire fueled her initial decision to travel to Ghana after completing her first year of law school, and has since contributed to her commitment to Our Children Africa. Shannon is currently involved with several organizations throughout campus including Journalists for Human Rights (JHR) and Canadian Lawyers for International Human Rights (CLAIHR). Frederick AsamoahFrederick Kwame Asamoah, 48 is a third year law student at the University of London, External Program, Ghana. He is married to the Director of Osu Children’s Home and has three children. Kwame comes to Our Children Africa, with a tract of experience. He is a seasoned social worker, with a social work career spanning two decades. He has held positions as a medical social worker at two of the most prestigious hospitals in Ghana, namely 37 Military Hospital and Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. Further, he has worked within correctional facilities as a probation officer in the Central Region of Ghana. In 2003 Kwame joined Orphanage Africa (now Orphanaid Africa), as the Executive Director, a position he held until December 2006. Kwame has collaborative experience with international agencies as well as a wealth of experience with volunteers worldwide. |
