Universal free primary and junior secondary school education is guaranteed under Ghana’s constitution. However students are still required to pay for their books and uniform. Our Children Africa has established a sponsorship program which ensures that six girls from the Akropong school district from the Eastern Region of Ghana will not only have the resources to complete junior secondary school but also continue their studies into secondary school.

Currently, the cost of school fees and tuition prevents many exceptional students from access to a secondary school education. Girls are most disadvantaged and least likely to continue their studies where families lack the financial resources. With your support Our Children Africa will continue to raise funds in order to sponsor a greater number of girls under this initiative.

Our hope is that by ensuring that greater numbers of girls get access to an education, they will eventually attain the resources they need to exercise agency in their own lives and within their communities.
